Core Facility Gene-Editing

Core Facility Gene Editing

The Core Facility Gene-Editing was established 2021 and offers a full-service for generation of new genetically modified mouse lines mostly via CRISPR/Cas9.  Projects start with establishment of a gene targeting strategy and end with handing over of confirmed founder animals. Tell us your gene of interest and the desired modification and we will kick off your project.

Services

The Core Facility Gene-Editing offers you a full-service for the generation of new genetically modified mouse lines at the SPF mouse facility of LIMES-GRC. In addition, we perform all transgenic standard services like rederivation of mouse lines, IVF, cryopreservation or microinjection into oocytes and blastocysts.

Getting Started

To establish a new mouse model, we arrange a first meeting where we can discuss your project ideas and figure out the method of choice for your needs. Of course, advice is provided free of charge. The following Gene-Editing workflow is described in more detail here.

Costs

Depending on the complexity of the project and different material input we apply a staggered price chart for the CRISPR/Cas9-mediated generation of gene-edited mice. Prices apply for internal users. However, we also welcome external users in our Core Facility.

Infrastructure

Our Core Facility operates a state-of-the-art injection microscope and electroporation set-ups for manipulation of oocytes and 2-cell embryos.
Resulting mice are born and kept in our SPF animal facility with very strict hygiene standards.
