Get your studies off to the best possible start with our preliminary courses

Some new students who have opted for a degree program in mathematics or the natural sciences may find themselves grappling with gaps in their knowledge once they finish school. To make the first few months of their studies easier, the University of Bonn offers an extensive range of preliminary courses that are entirely voluntary and completely free.

These courses, which our faculty runs in partnership with the Faculties of Agriculture and Medicine, are designed to help first-year students master the transition from school to university. Before your studies begin, for instance, you can go back over some of the mathematics you learned in school in a “university fashion,” familiarize yourself with some common coding languages and consolidate your chemistry knowledge. Our preliminary courses are also a good opportunity to get to know your subject better and meet future fellow students for the first time.
