University of Bonn Awards Professor Helmut Schwarz Honorary Doctorate
Unanimous approval from the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences
The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Bonn is to confer an honorary doctorate on Professor Helmut Schwarz following a unanimous vote by its faculty council. In making the award, the University is recognizing not only the outstanding scientific achievements of Professor Schwarz—one of the world’s leading researchers in the field of organic chemistry—but also his extraordinary commitment to the German academic system in general and the University of Bonn in particular.

Decisions in the second round of the Excellence Strategy competition
The DFG (German Research Foundation) is funding eight Clusters of Excellence at the University of Bonn!
Six of these clusters (Hausdorff Center for Mathematics, ImmunoSensation3, PhenoRob2, Our Dynamic Universe, Matter and Light for Quantum Information, and Color meets Flavor) are led by or involve members of our faculty!
